"Was this gnome guy dressed in an orange wizard robe and hat adorned with black stars and a mask over his eyes?" Violet asks with a smirk. "I think me and Blackheart ran into him when we first arrived here. Blackheart was able to scare him good while I kicked him in his face."
"The next Shadow Soul will be found in a reality that has not fared as well as this one." Blackheart says with a frown. "It takes place in the past, but events of this past have taken a drastic turn for the worse."
"If it were easy, it wouldn't be much of an adventure would it?" Violet asks with a smile.
Blackheart looks at Steve, Hack, and Timo. "You three were able to defeat my parents and my aunts when even the Powerpuff Girls could not. You showed an interest in my goals, and I need your help. Please go with me and Violet to collect the remaining Shadow Souls."

Hearing what Hack said, Timo dropped the case. Timo looked at Blackheart. "Only the three of us? What about the girls? Can't they come...?"
Suddenly Timo realized the reason.
"If I had to guess, since Blackheart is a Voidbringer, she has to travel to alternate realities in order to retrieve the other Shadow Souls." Buttercup remarks. "We can't protect her from Him there, because we can't really follow her there; not without leaving Townsville wide open for any bad guy to just swoop in and take over."
Timo looked at Bubbles who apparentally had also realized the same thing.
Bubbles saddened as she went and hugged Timo. "I don't want you to go without me."
Timo hugged back. "But if I don't, there's a chance Blackheart will fail in her goal and then every reality and time will suffer like we just did, only much worse."
Bubbles pressed her head against Timo's shoulder, about to cry.
"I do wish you could come too, Bubbles, but it is like Buttercup said. Someone has to stay here and protect Townsville." Timo said.
Bubbles shook her head. "I still don't want you to go."

Steve was silent. Hack's statements surprised him rather. But there is another reason why the girls could not go to one reality, maybe more. He said it under his breath.
'The Blinovitch Limitation Effect'.
They looked at him. 'The what/?', Buttercup said.
He repeated the phrase and explained. 'The Blinovitch Limitation Effect. Basically, you can't meet yourselves in other realities. I'll tell you the rest another time.'
Blossom understood. 'It's the same reason you can't keep traveling back in time until you get something right. Does one or more of these other realities contain us in one form or another?' The room fell silent. 'As well as risking leaving Townsville open for goodness knows who, we may meet ourselves.',
Blackheart listened to this with interest.
'And what about Angel? If she wants to come of course.' Steve asked her. 'And of course if Blossom agrees of course.' Steve was rather worried about this particular new fact, if it was true....

Bubbles couldn't let Timo go.
"Please... let me come with you." Bubbles pleaded, now crying.
"Bubbles, I..." Timo began but couldn't say anything else. He looked at Blackheart, hoping she could come with them. However, Timo knew the answer. He broke the hug and looked at Bubbles.
"Honey, I will be back and to show you I will..." Timo thought about it for a moment. "... I'll give you this."
Timo put one of his hands just beneath his light blue diamond. The diamond shone a bit when something small came out. As Timo took it, the item's glow dimmed. It was an ice ring with a small glimmering, frozen flower on it.
Timo gave it to Bubbles. "This is a very important item for me. I'd like you to hold onto it until I get back."
Bubbles wiped her tears as she took the ring. "You really promise to come back?"
Timo smiled. "I promise." With that, Timo gave a small kiss on Bubbles' forehead and walked in front of Blackheart, not looking back.
"I'll hold onto it then." Bubbles said as new tears formed. "So you'd better come back."
Timo closed his eyes. "I hope I will." was all he could mutter to himself.

Steve noticed that Blossom had a tear in her eye. She'd been like that only once before, when...
'This is like those songs you used to write', she tried to joke. 'Be back as soon as you can and make sure nothing happens to her.'
'I will', Steve replied, sounding better than he felt. 'Have you got the pendants on?'
'I have. Have you two', she answered. Steve nodded.
'Yes mummy', Angel told her, 'Don't cry, we'll be back.'
Blossom managed not to. 'See you soon honey'.
Steve and Blossom kissed and she cuddled Angel. 'Look after your dad', Blossom told Angel. Steve took a radio type device out of one pocket of his coat. 'I've got one too. If anything happens, call me.'
Blossom took it and looked at it. 'Will it work in other dimensions?'.
'I hope so', Steve told her, and kissed her again. They parted slowly and he turned to Blackheart.
'Are you sure that they can't come?' he asked her.

Blackheart nods. "This is not the first reality I have been to where the Powerpuff Girls are grown up, married, and/or have children. Violet herself is from such a plane of existence. To take the Powerpuff Girls of this reality with me would be to leave it at the mercy of any villain that noticed the Powerpuff Girls have not been seen in some time and take advantage, and I cannot see fit to do such a thing."
"It'll be all right. Even if we don't bring the Powerpuff Girls with us, that doesn't mean we won't still have the help of the Powerpuff Girls of the other realities!" Violet chimes in, nodding with a smile.
"That's true... unless something has already happened to them where we go." Blackheart replies. "The heroes we are taking with us deserve the most credit for defeating Jazenok Blackskull; they are the ones who bested my mother and her sisters and found the sword of the archangel and the one who holds it." Blackheart smiles sweetly at the heroes. "My father told me the story to make me go to sleep when Nanny Morbucks' stories didn't work."
Blackheart casts Black Vortex
With a wave of her hand, Blackheart creates an all too familiar swirling black portal and steps through, followed by Violet.

Blackheart's words make Timo a bit depressed. "If you've heard the story, you should know that I really didn't do anything. All the 'help' I gave was from my dark self and his powers and later it became a burden. I don't deserve to be called a hero."
After Violet steps into the vortex, Timo is highly tempted to look at Bubbles one more time, but decides not to and with a deep breath, Timo steps into Black Vortex.

Steve unfortunately does. Bubbles was trying not to cry and Blossom was trying to hide the fact that she was. Steve almost stays, but Buttercup spoke for them all.
'Go and get these things. I'll look after these two', she told him. 'Angel will look after you. I can confirm she's trained for fights with the best. Go!!'
Steve nodded to her and then he and Angel stepped into the vortex...

Hack floats up to the vortex, then looks back at the Girls. "If I come back and this place is ruined, I'm blaming you three," he says before diving through.

On the other side of the portal, the sky has changed from a serene blue, to a dull gray. Blackheart and Violet are hovering over an unkempt suburb, looking out over at the hallowed ruins of a city in the distance.
"I thought we were traveling into an alternate past. Are you sure we aren't in some kind of post apocalyptic future?" Violet asks.
"This is the past, but in an altered timeline." Blackheart replies. She points at a broken street sign on the ground nearby. "Perhaps that can tell us more."
Violet picks up the sign and reads it aloud.
"Townsville City Limits. Somebody crossed out Townsville in some kind of red paint and wrote 'HELL' with it.
"That's not paint Violet." Blackheart tells her.
"Oh. Eww..." Violet drops the sign in disgust and looks up at the city. "What do you suppose happened here?"
"It is likely we are going to find out. The Shadow Soul is in the heart of what remains of this Townsville, which means it must have been found and brought here by someone from this timeline." Blackheart answers.
"Either that, or Him gave the orb to somebody, knowing it would cause this to happen." Violet deduces. "I've got a bad feeling about this."
Blackheart hugs Theo tightly as she takes off into the air in a streak of black and red light, followed by Violet and her purple streak of light.

'They aren't very good at camouflage are they? It's almost as if they are asking to be captured and we don't know who's going to capture them'.
The other three looked at Angel. Her fighting skills were good, but how about her stealth. Steve and Blossom had taught her that fighting is only one part of solving crimes.
'And we don't know if whoever catches them will know or be willing to tell us where this Shadow Soul is, do we'. This from Timo.
Steve turned to Hack.
'We'll stay in the shadows but follow them. I would like to get these three Shadow Souls and get back home. Only fight when you need to', Steve told him. 'If only there was some way we could detect them?'
Steve and Angel launched but kept to the shadows, trying as far as possible to stay out of sight but watch the two girls. If they got captured, there might be a lead....

Timo followed Steve's advice and also stayed in the shadows to the best of his abilities, while following Blackheart and Violet.
During this, Timo looked down at the rundown Townsville. "My God... ... I doubt we'll find anyone here, let alone help. The whole city feels so... dead."

"Look closer," Hack says as he follows the others. "This town isn't just dead. It was murdered. Something killed it, and that something is probably still out there. If we can find it, it may lead us to the Shadow Soul. In the meantime, all we can do is follow our... for lack of a better word, bait."
Hack flips on his X-ray vision. "We'll need to stay within visual range, but I can track the Voidbringer and her friend through any obstructions this way. Just watch my back and we can keep an eye on them from a safe distance, no matter where they go. And if -- when -- they get caught, I'll also be able to find the quickest route to save them."

As Blackheart and Violet fly over the ruins of the city, Violet starts to get more concerned. "What could have happened here? It's like somebody nuked the whole place!"
"Possibly." Blackheart replies as the two of them come across the only remaining structure in Townville. It appears to be Mojo's observatory, only it is on the ground level instead of on top of the volcano. "There. That is where the Shadow Soul is." Blackheart says, pointing at the observatory.
As she and Violet approach the building, they hear a heavy breath, followed by a synthesized voice. "More cheap copies. I'll show you no mercy." Followed by a roar that sounds anything but human.

Defense: Hidden
From out of one of the holes in the roof of the observatory comes flying a rocket propelled grenade, headed right for Blackheart! The rocket explodes on impact with the Dark Powerpuff, the explosion knocking Violet through the air and coming to a crash in the street below, but she is quick to sit up. "Blackheart! Theo!"
Violet Condition: Broke a Sweat
The smoke clears from the sky, but both targets of the rocket have disappeared without a trace!
Blackheart Condition: Unknown
Theo Condition: Unknown
"Scratch one more copycat." The unknown assailant says, his voice seemingly coming from outside the observatory now, although Violet still can't see anyone. Getting to her feet, she enters a fighting pose.

Attack: Gatling Gun (Duranium Rounds)
Defense: Hidden
"Hold still. I'll make this quick." The voice says.
Violet attacks ?
Attack: None
Defense: Duck
Violet does the exact opposite of what the voice tells her, diving behind a pile of debris as a hail of duranium bullets fills the sky where she was just moments before!
Violet Condition: Broke a Sweat
"Come on out little girl. I promise this won't hurt a bit." The assailant says, still hidden from view. "I made my own little girls perfect, and I can do the same for you."
Violet's eyes widen upon hearing this. "It can't be... is that... Professor Utonium?"
'Professor Utonium' attacks Violet
Attack: Strangle Hold
Defense: Energy Shield
As if to answer her question, a figure appears from out of nowhere and grabs Violet by the throat, lifting her up to look at a face that looks like the Professor, dressed in a tattered white lab coat coated in blood, his body is adorned with metallic plates jutting from the rotten skin and one of his eyes has popped out of the skull, staring dead at Violet! His left arm is gone, having been replaced with a large firearm that appears to be a gatling gun spliced with an RPG.
"Who are you to know me by that name?" the monster asks. "I am the Father! The people of this city... they murdered my children! They murdered them, but I fixed them! I made them perfect; the way they were always meant to be! I showed them. I showed them all!" The Father's grip tightens around Violet's throat as she kicks his zombie like body in a desperate attempt to break free. "Now I'll show you!"
