Steve and Angel come down beside them as they land.
'That was brilliant', Angel says, referring to the pendant and the three girls to one trick. 'Can I have a go sometime?'
'We'll see', Blossom says. Angel is satisfied for now.
'Angel, how did you know about werewolves?', Steve asked her. She looked at Buttercup for a second.
'Buttercup told me about the various monsters out there.', Angel replied. Buttercup relaxed slightly, as in actual fact she had been raiding Steve's video collection and watching them with Angel.
'What are we going to do now then', Buttercup asks the question again, partly to steer the conversation away from horror films!
'Well it's clear here now. Back to base and have a talk with Blackheart and Violet. They know more than us about this.', Steve suggested. Actually, although they had been very nice to Blackheart and she seemed like a nice girl, for some reason, Steve wasn't fully convinced about her. There was something he couldn't quite put his finger on. How did she know that the bear was locked in the workshop? Blossom had told him that as well as the way that she got dressed again very fast. He wanted to ask her a few questions, mainly to put his mind at rest.
'Sounds like a plan', Blossom stated. 'Let's go back to base'.

Timo heard the order and flew back home with everyone, still thinking about the hit he suffered.
"There's no way that monster could have been that strong by itself." Timo thought. "I didn't feel anything strange when the first one hit my shield, but..." Timo's trail of thoughts was cut off as Bubbles appeared next to him.
"What's wrong, Timo?" Bubbles asked.
"Nothing... I hope." Timo said. "Just wondering two things. I'll tell if need be."
Bubbles looked at Timo for a while. "Alright then, we're at home now."
Timo hadn't lied. The second thing was Blackheart and her... or rather ONE of her goals.
The group began to land...

"All right, let's get some questions answered," Hack says. "I'd like to get a feel for the Voidbringer's dark side, whatever that is. I mean, it doesn't really matter what her good half thinks about evil. I need to make sure that her evil half isn't as reckless as Blackskull was."

When they landed and went in, Blackheart was asleep but Violet was awake and watching her intently, ready to wake her up if she started to dream.
'Everything OK', Blossom asked.
'Yeah, fine thanks.', Violet replied.
Steve turned to Buttercup. 'Look after Angel for a minute. I want a word with Blossom in private'.
Buttercup was happy to do so, but wondered why. Steve whispered to Blossom and they went down to the workshop, then into the room they'd locked the bear in.
'What's up Steve?', Blossom asked Steve.
'I think we're being hoodwnked somwhere', Steve told her. 'We've all accepted Blackheart with little serious questioning.'
'Questioning?'
'OK then, without wondering about her. Like, how did she know that the teddy was locked up in here when she was out of it? Getting her clothes back when you had put them in the laundry? And the rescue.'
'I see what you mean. What about the rescue though?'
'It might have been to win our trust. If she can travel from place to place and dimension to dimension, then why did we have to rescue her from the shark? Surely she could have got herself out of that!'. Steve paused. 'And she can disable these shadow souls but she keeps them. Can she re-enable them at will?'
'I don't know. Nor does anyone else', Blossom replied.
'And we let her and Violet stay here. What if the Professor had been here and something had happened?'
They both stayed silent for a moment.
'You could be wrong of course', Blossom stated.
'I hope I am. For all our sakes.', Steve added.
'Me too', Blossom finished the phrase. 'We haven't seen her bad side yet. I hope we can handle it if we have to.'
'Watch ourselves and each other', Steve warned Blossom. 'Something does not add up here. For part demon and part Darkie, she is a bit too nice. Act normally around her though so she does not guess that we may be onto her. Because she's a kid, we've all been a bit slack.'
Steve put a few things in his pockets and they went back to rejoin the group.

Timo looked at Blackheart with worried face. Seeing this, Bubbles got worried too and decided to confront it.
"Timo, I can see something is really bothering you." Bubbles said. "What is it?"
Timo sighed and leaned on a wall. "It's Blackheart. Her situation is the same as me."
Violet heard this and got curious. "Same as you? How?"
Bubbles suddenly realized what Timo meant. "You don't mean..."
"Yes." Timo interrupted. " We both have two different sides to ourselves. The difference is that she was born with it. I was just... infected."
"Two different sides?" Violet wondered. "You mean you have a good and a dark side too?"
"Well, my dark side is sealed inside me now, never to wake up again." Timo said.
"I see." Violet said.
Timo walked up to Violet. "Which is why I know that when there are two wills in one body, there are also two goals. We know what good Blackheart wants, but we don't know what the evil side wants. Do you know, Violet?"
Violet didn't answer. Timo's question got other's interests. Right then Blossom and Steve came back into the room.
"I'm asking this, because when I fought one of the monsters, I got hit." Timo said. "That hit hurt much worse than it should have. I suspect that the corruption the moon emitted also gave extra strenght to the monsters."
Violet closed her eyes.
"Can the Shadow Souls' corruption give more strenght or not?" Timo asked with a very serious face. "If they do, is that evil Blackheart's goal? To gain more strenght to destroy?"

'Looks like I wasn't the only one', Steve said quietly so only Blossom could hear. She nodded.
'Violet, how long has she been asleep for?',, Blossom asked.

"She's only been asleep for a little while." Violet says, looking over at her friend as she sleeps, hugging Theo tightly. "To answer your question, I suppose it makes sense that the corruption from the Shadow Souls would make the monsters stronger. That might be why they go for them in the first place. As for Blackheart's evil self..." Violet shrugs as she answers. "...I'm not totally sure myself, but I think the evil side of Blackheart wants control. Not just in her nightmares, but when she's awake."
"Do you know what evil Blackheart would do if she did gain control?" Bubbles asks. Violet shakes her head in response.
"All I know is that whatever it is, it'd be really bad. That's why I've been helping Blackheart's good half gather the Shadow Souls and purify them. If Blackheart can collect enough purified Shadow Souls, she believes she can use them to completely nullify her evil self. She also believes she could seal Him in the Black Void, where he would have no power and could not cause trouble ever again."
"So then Blackheart wants to put a stop to the corruption?" Blossom asks.
"Well, one of her does anyhow." Violet answers. "That's really all I know. You'll have to ask her if you wanted to know more, but it would probably be a bad idea to wake her up now. She rarely sleeps as soundly as this and always looks tired when we travel. I think her struggle within wears her out." Violet frowns as Blackheart starts to shiver in her sleep, dropping Theo on the floor and causing the bear to rub its bottom as it hits the floor.
"What's happening now?" Bubbles asks, sounding worried herself.
"This is what I was afraid of!" Violet says, jumping off the couch as it and Blackheart start to float in the air. "Blackheart's evil self is trying to break free in her sleep! She can't maintain control if Blackheart wakes up, but until then we'll have to hold off whatever nightmare she conjures up!
The Powerpuff Girls, Steve, Hack, and Timo watch as the living room melts away around them, changing the scenery to a pale green field with a lone tree in the distance. The sky itself is a pitch black.
Running around the tree are four children; a boy and three girls playing together. A fifth child is sitting alone under the tree staring down at the grass.
Listening in, the heroes can hear the playing children.
"GGGG..OOO..TTTTT.H...H..AAA..ZZZZZ..OOO..DDDD..I.N...N..GGGG.SSSSS
G.....O...O...T...H...H.A...A....Z..O...O.D...D.I.NN..N.G.....S....

"What the heck?" Buttercup shrugs. "I can't understand them at all! Bubbles?"
"Sorry Buttercup, but even I can't understand them. They aren't saying anything, just making noise." Bubbles answers.
"Be careful everybody." Violet warns the group. "In a dream, anything can happen, but in a Blackheart nightmare, the stranger it is, the more possible it is it WILL happen."

'Stay close everyone', Blossom tells the group. Steve was at her side in an instant and Angel joined them. Angel had done OK so far, but this was something new for her as well as the rest of the group.
'Violet, wake her!! Soon as you can', Steve tells her. Violet proceeds to climb back on the couch and gently shake Blackheart to wake her up.
Angel looked up at her parents, a touch of fear in her voice. 'I can understand what the kids are saying', she told them.
The bear stood up by itself...

Violet's warning reminded Timo of something familiar. "'It will happen'... doesn't that remind you all of Black's Nightmare Illusion?"
"Well, she is Black's daughter so of course she'd inherit at least a similar power if not even stronger." Buttercup said.
Timo heard Angel's voice then. "What are they saying, Angel?"

I've seen this before, Hack thinks. But where?... Majora's Mask? Really? The last guy rips off Ocarina of Time, and now this? What, is the Black Void a subsidiary of Nintendo?

Violet tries to wake up Blackheart, but is unable to before she and the couch, along with Theo and the rest of the living room disappears! The lone boy of the children spots the heroes and calls the thee girls playing with him to follow him as they run over to the heroes.
As they get closer, they all realize something is strange about these children. They all look like normal human children with fair skin, noses, ears, and fingers, but are dressed like Black and the Dark Powerpuff Girls! The boy has short black hair and is dressed in a dark purple robe with a black cape. The three girls' hair is done the same way as the Dark Puffs, they have the same black dresses on, and the one who looks like Dark Buttercup is even wearing an eye patch over her left eye!
"Hi there! Have you come to help our friend?" The boy speaks up, pointing at the lone figure underneath the tree. "Our friend hasn't spoken or moved in quite some time. We can't even remember if it is a boy or a girl anymore, as it has all but hidden from us in the shadow. You aren't from here, are you? Maybe it will talk to you?"
Before anyone can answer, the boy dressed like Black and the girls dressed like the Dark Puffs take Violet and the Powerpuff Girls by the hand and run toward the tree, pulling them along with unnatural strength!
"Whoa, wait a sec!" Buttercup shouts, running alongside her sisters and Violet to avoid falling on her face.
"I can't wrest my arm free!" Bubbles shouts in a panic.
"Me neither, how is this possible?" Blossom says, struggling with the little girl grasping her tightly.
"We have to see our way out of the nightmare and find Blackheart." Violet tries to explain, running alongside the boy, who has her by the arm. "Maybe these kids know where to find her?"
The Powerpuff Girls and Violet are led forcibly by the hand into the shady spot of the tree, where they spot the last child... if it could even be called one. Its body is all black like a shadow. As the other children return to playing around the tree, the shadow begins to whisper something. Listening closely, it appears to be mumbling some kind of song.
[glow=black,2,300]"I'm searching for su~nlight
The ye~ars have passed
Ho~ping
To fin~d a way out of this place
All hope is gone"[/glow]
The shadow reaches up with its arm, reaching for seemingly nothing. [glow=black,2,300]"A~ll hope is GO~NE!" [/glow]It sings, its voice getting louder for a moment. It stops singing and begins to ramble in whispers to itself.
[glow=black,2,300]"I've got to find a way out of this place. I'm going freaking insane here. Who did this to me? I am going to find a way out, and when I do I am going to rip the heads off whoever did this to me. Who put me in this forsaken place?"[/glow]
The shadow then begins to laugh maniacally. It looks at the girls surrounding him and begins to whisper again.
[glow=black,2,300]"I can see my reflection... in my blood... my distorted face... shattered thoughts... broken dreams... I can see it..." [/glow]it reaches out at the sky again. [glow=black,2,300]"...the exit. Unreachable."[/glow]
"What the heck does any of THAT mean?" Buttercup asks Violet in frustration.
"I have no idea!" Violet answers, shrugging her shoulders. Looking up at the sky where the shadow is pointing, Violet's eyes widen. "Up there!" She points up at the sky as the sun appears, bright blue instead of yellow, shining darkness down on the tree. "That's what the shadow is babbling about!"

Hack looks up at the blue light, then back at the shadow. "That thing... I know what it is." He floats closer to the shadow. "You're Blackheart's 'evil' side, aren't you?" he asks, including air quotes over the word "evil." "And you're pissed off because her 'good' side is trying to get rid of you." He looks back at the group. "What Blackheart's doing with the Shadow Souls... it's not right. The more she tries to suppress her dark side, the more it's going to lash out. Even if she does manage to kill it entirely, she's gonna get us all killed in the process." He shakes his head at the thought. "We need another plan. There's gotta be some way to get her two sides working together -- or at least talking." He looks at Violet specifically. "Is there any way to bring Blackheart's light side into this dream... or illusion... or whatever this is?"

"If she's the evil side, I'm quite surprised at this dream." Timo said while looking at the playing children. "It's not as dark I thought it would be." He then looks up at the blue sun. "But it's highly depressing. The evil Blackheart seems to be suffering for not being able to get out of this place. That's all she wants."
Timo then had a realization. "I see. It hasn't been that long since Blackheart purified that Shadow Soul. This must be the effect the evil side is going through. The good Blackheart is, like my dark self used to, changing the environment of her mind to her liking by intruding her evil side's mind, thus taking over the entire mind and controlling it."
Everyone looked at Timo silently.
"What? Am I wrong?" Timo wondered.

"On the contrary, you hit the nail on the head!" Blackheart says in her evil voice, which comes from behind the group! Everyone whirls around to see Blackheart standing in the field with them, but her left eye is now covered by her dark hair; her evil blue eye looking at the heroes before her! "What you are seeing, witnessing, observing with this shadow is the death of evil itself! Little Miss Goody Good is literally trying to KILL ME!"
Blackheart ignores everyone else and stares right at Violet, pointing at her menacingly. "YOU! YOU'RE THE ONE HELPING HER DO THIS!"
Blackheart attacks Violet
Attack: Big Bang Laser
Defense: Nightmare
"JUST A SMALL TASTE OF WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO YOU WHEN I DO ESCAPE!" Evil Blackheart's voice roars, aiming her arms and firing a Big Bang Laser just like her father right at Violet! Violet is blasted hard against the tree, screaming in pain as the laser disintegrates her!
Violet Condition: Destroyed???
The children playing under the tree fall down and start crying as Blackheart burns down the tree. "SHUT UP YOU BRATS!" She shouts, her voice still a cacophony of an old woman and a demonic possession! "YOU'RE ASLEEP NOW, LITTLE MISS GOODY GOOD! YOU'RE IN MY NIGHTMARE, MY REALM, MY DOMAIN, NOW! COME OUT AND FACE ME YOURSELF; DON'T SEND THESE ADULTS INTO YOUR DREAMS TO DO YOUR DIRTY WORK!"
Blackheart suddenly starts to laugh in this wicked voice. "DON'T EVEN BOTHER TRYING TO WAKE HER UP NOW, VIOLET! SHE CAN ONLY BE AWAKENED FROM HERE, AND THE DREAM REALM IS MINE..." She turns to the Powerpuff Girls, Angel, Steve, Timo, and Hack. "...AND YOURS!"
Blackheart attacks Everyone
Attack: Dreams into Nightmares
Defense: Nightmare
The serene field and the playing (now crying) children melt away to reveal the city of Townsville is under attack by something much larger and more fierce looking than any kind of monster the Powerpuff Girls had ever faced before! "BEHOLD, THE TRUE FORM OF THEODORE THE HORK DEMON!" Blackheart cackles.
Theo attacks Townsville
Attack: Mass Destruction
Defense: Aura of Gluttony
The enormous demon stomps through Townsville like an adult trampling a model of the city, stomping buildings flat as though they were made of cardboard and leaving tremendous craters in the ground wherever it goes!
"Whoa... now THAT is a big monster!" Buttercup exclaims, staring up in awe at Theo. "So, who wants to try to stop it first?"
"It's way too big; there's no way we stand a chance against that!" Blossom states, examining the monster. "This is all just a nightmare conjured by Blackheart's evil self though. The purified orbs were already weakening her before she came here for one, so its likely even if that thing does kill us here, we'll just wake up back at the house just like Violet!"
"So what do we do Blossom? Do we fight it?" Bubbles asks.
"Someone has to stay and find the good Blackheart so she wake up from this." Blossom says, looking at Steve and Angel. "I hate to have to do this, but I need to talk to Violet some more, and the only way out of this dream is for me to be killed in it! I'm going after Theo!"
"Not without us you're not!" Bubbles and Buttercup both reply.
"The chance to fight an invincible, unbeatable monster and not die when it kills me? I'd be crazy NOT to do it!" Buttercup exclaims with a smirk.
"I'm not letting you face that thing alone, dream or no dream!" Bubbles exclaims, hugging Blossom.
"Thanks girls." Blossom says with a smile, hugging Bubbles and Buttercup. "We'll hold that... that THING back as long as we can. It should be enough time to find the good Blackheart and wake her up! If this dream version of our world is up to scale, she might be back at the house, so try there first."
The Powerpuff Girls look up at the massive demon, looking determined to fight it to the bitter, inevitable end! "Let's go take down the biggest, baddest monster ever dreamed of!" Buttercup says, pounding her fist as the girls take to the sky.

'I hope to God you're right', Steve stated.
'Is that the spirit hidden in that bear', Angel asked.
'Yes', Blossom said. 'Now do you see why...'
Angel nodded, Steve meanwhile wondered how long it would take to wake Blackheart up from the dream. 'Can we die in dreams', he tthougt. 'Well not normally but this dream, I wouldn't want to risk it'.
'Get Violet out of here somehow', Buttercup said to the others.
'Easier said than done', Steve commented.
Then he spotted Evil Blackheart just above them. laughing manically as she viewed the scene. Angel saw it too and before Steve could stop her, she was flying towards it.
'Is that all you've got, a child', Evil Blackheart laughed at her.
Steve flew up to drag her back down. She turned and spoke to him.
'You've been training me for this for years. Let me do it', she told him. She flew forward and stood, in mid air, in front of Evil Blackheart. 'Yes. A child.', Her voice sounded different somehow, more adult. He couldn't place the voice. 'You got a problem with that?'
Evil Blackheart became angry and tried to swat the girl out of the way, but Angel was faster and dodged the blow. She tried again and again Angel was faster. Then Angel became invisible and this made Evil Blackheart even more mad. Angel then reached for her hair and blocked the view from the evil eye...
