But at the same time I haven't seen you accept your role in the cosmic order. What I need to know is that you can embrace your destiny as the embodiment of death, destruction, chaos... evil, if you want to be simple about it... without going out of control like the last guy, and thus without having to be put down like the last guy. You see, evil is... like a parasite, and like a parasite it needs to strike a balance between short-term gain and long-term survival. After all, it only defeats itself by killing the host. I need to know that you understand that."

'Hasn't he got a wonderful turn of phrase', Steve thought. 'At least he's honest'. Blackheart relaxed ever so slightly.
'What do you do to make these things inactive?', Steve asked Blackheart. 'And where are Buttercup and Violet?'

Hack's words remind Timo of his own situation, suddenly realizing that Blackheart's situation is similar to his.
"She's the same as me, except that she was born this way." Timo thought while looking at Blackheart.

Blackheart sits back on the couch and smiles. "I know I am the granddaughter of an embodiment of evil, and that I am the princess of the Black Void, the dimension of darkness, but death, destruction, and chaos?" Blackheart shakes her head. "Death is a natural part of life. Destruction exists to aid creation. Chaos is a necessity, for without it order would be meaningless." Blackheart rests her arms on her knees and looks at Hack with a polite smile. "Your take on evil is very intriguing. Without evil, there would be no good. Does this mean that sometimes in order to be good, one must do something that would be considered evil by others? Do the ends justify the means?
To answer your original question, my journey is one of self control. I do not wish to make enemies with you or anyone else. My grandfather wishes for me to become more like his old rival, Jazenok Blackskull, for he felt that his rivalry with Blackskull made him more creative, more powerful, and overall more 'evil' in his actions. Ever since my father took over the Black Void in his absence, he has spent all his time there with my mother, ignoring all else..." she lowers her head "...including me. Neither of my parents have spent much time with me. I grew up alone, knowing only Theo and Nanny Morbucks as my family. Now that I have Violet with me, I don't feel so alone anymore." She looks up and smiles again.
She goes on to explain the Shadow Souls. "The Shadow Souls are orbs of pure corruption that came from the Black Void. When grandfather requested that I free him, he brought them out of the Black Void without mine or my parents' knowledge. Their powers attract monsters to them, which is how Jazenok Blackskull collected and controlled all of them. As a Voidbringer, I have the power to remove this corruption, turning the Shadow Soul from an uncontrollable corruptive force to a powerful source of dark energy that only I can control. I can use it to further suppress the other side of me and strengthen myself, and the orbs no longer radiate the corruption of the Black Void." Blackheart tilts her head and smiles sweetly. "That way everybody's happy!"
"We're back!" Violet's voice can be heard outside as she flies in through the open door. She looks at Hack and the weapons he has holstered. "Uh oh, we're not in trouble are we?"
"Nah, he's probably just here for a friendly visit." Buttercup answers, carrying the Shadow Soul in one hand. "That is it, right? You're not planning on usin' those toys of yours to threaten a little girl who never meant any harm, are ya?" Buttercup pitches the Shadow Soul to Blackheart, who easily catches the orb.
Blackheart casts Dark Purification
Blackheart looks at the orb with her exposed red left eye, pulling back the hair covering the other side of her face and pressing the orb against herself. A glowing black, red, and blue light shoots from the orb into Blackheart's evil eye, forcing it open for the others to see! After a moment, the light fades, and Blackheart closes her right eye and brushes her hair back into place with her hand. The orb still glows with a red and blue light, but it is much more faint than before.
"All done!" Blackheart says, smiling brightly. "Three more and I will have enough to force Him back into the Black Void, where he can't cause trouble."
Blackheart waves her arm, causing a black traveler's bag with a red trim to appear. Blackheart unzips the bag, revealing that she has another purified Shadow Soul inside. She places the one she just absorbed into the bag and makes the bag disappear.
"Do you really think it will be so simple, my darling?" Him's voice echoes through the room. "Perhaps you should tell them the real reason you want these orbs."
"I already did grandfather; to put you back where you belong, as a prisoner of the Black Void." Blackheart answers.
"Is that what both of you want?" Him asks her. "Can I ask 'her' if that is what she intends to do with them?"
"No, you may not!" Blackheart shouts, shaking her head. "With just a few more, 'she' will cease to exist anyway!"
"We'll see about that..." Him says with a chuckle. "Try to be careful tonight; it would be a shame if your beautiful face were to be scarred." With that, Him's voice fades away.
Blackheart tucks her legs in and starts to sob. "I won't let her out, grandfather; you can't make me!"
"I hate to interrupt, but we do still have a monster attack to fend off." Blossom says, pointing at the red light still looming over Townsville. "Someone should stay here with Blackheart so-"
"No. I must go." Blackheart says, starting to stand up, but Violet sits down next to her and hugs her.
"You've had a tough day." Violet says to her friend. "You deserve a bit of rest. I'll sit this one out with you and Theo."
Blackheart smiles, resting her head on Violet's shoulder and hugging Theo. "Thank you Violet." She says.
"C'mon everyone, let's go!" Blossom commands, "We're the only thing standing between Townsville and a horde of monsters tonight!"

Steve looked at Angel and then at Blackheart. 'Before we go, can you tell us where these other Shadow Souls are? We would like Him put out of action too.. We tried once and thought we'd won. In the meantime, who is this "she" you are on about?'
The group stopped.
'My dark self. She sometimes takes control when I sleep, which is why Violet and I sleep in shifts. My dreams are pretty bad. When I start to dream, Violet wakes me up.
'You must be a tired and brave girl', Blossom says. 'But surely dreams are dreams?'
Steve thought about it and briefly looked at Timo.
'Have you heard of the Elm Street case a few years ago?'. Buttercup asked. 'There were people there who could make their dreams real.'
'That was a film', Bubbles said.
'Well yes, but it was based on a true case. Are you OK with this, Violet?', Blossom asked.
'Are we going or not', Hank butted in.
At that point, the Powerpuff Hotline began to ring.
'Yes', Steve said as Blossom went to answer it.
'Here's my mobile number', Blossom said as she returned. 'Call us if you need to and don't answer the door to anyone but us.'
'OK, thanks', Violet says.
'Right, First call awaits', Blossom says. The group then flew off into the night...

Timo felt his light blue diamond at the center of his shirt. Hearing all what Blackheart had just said made him see that they truly were similar. Or at the very least her goal is the same he had had last time.
After Blossom's order, Timo took one last brief look at Blackheart. "I wonder if she knows how similar we are?"
Timo then flew off and catched up the rest pretty quickly. At the distance, roaring could be heard...

Hack assembles the ion cannon and straps the battery pack to his back. "Will you be able to defend the Voidbringer by yourself?" he asks Violet before heading out the door. "Her safety is our primary objective. If you're not absolutely sure you can handle it, I'd be happy to stay here and help you hold down the fort."

"We'll be all right." Violet answers with a smile.
"No monsters will come here now that the Shadow Soul is gone." Blackheart says with a nod. "I know a place I can hide them where neither my grandfather or monsters can get them."
In Townsville, the Powerpuff Girls, Steve, and Timo have spotted the bulk of the monster attack. Giant bats, zombies, and other creatures have emerged to attack Townsville. Bubbles spots a few zombies on the ground shambling toward a small store and banging against the store window, followed by a scream of fear.
Bubbles attacks Zombies
Attack: Vaporize
Defense: Flying
Bubbles narrows her eyes, firing a wide, intense eyebeam downward at the ghouls. The laser incinerates them, three of them falling over on the spot, the others turning and shambling away in retreat still on fire.
Zombie Conditions: 3 Destroyed/4 Defeated - Burn
"Looks like we still got some company." Buttercup comments, pointing at the giant bats approaching.
"I'm going in to help the person trapped down here." Bubbles says, flying down to do just that. Blossom nods and sets her sights on the bats.
"Okay guys, get ready to fire." She commands. "On three."
Giant Bat attacks Blossom
Attack: Swoop
Defense: None
Blossom and Buttercup Attack Giant Bat
Attack: Laser Eyebeam x2
Defense: Evasive Action
"Three!" Blossom shouts as she and Buttercup fire their lasers at the bat. The beams clip one of the wings off, causing the bat to flail out of control on a collision course with the girls, but both Blossom and Buttercup easily sidestep the falling monster.
Giant Bat Condition: Broken
"That's one down, a bunch left to go!" Buttercup exclaims as Bubbles returns.
"I got the store owner to safety." Bubbles tells Blossom.
"Good job. Now we can go on the offense!" Blossom replies, looking up at the red light shining down on them and Townsville from the moon. "With the orb gone, the moon should stop giving off that glow before long, and the monsters should leave. It's up to us to keep Townsville standing until then!"
Blossom removes some kind of metal object from her dress and puts it on around her neck. Steve and Timo see a glimpse of what it is before she tucks it under her collar; a silver necklace with a star shaped amulet. She also hands a pair of matching silver star rings to her sisters; one to Bubbles, the other to Buttercup.
"Don't put them on yet girls. "Blossom says to Bubbles and Buttercup. "Hang on to them just in case we need 'em."
"Gotcha." Buttercup answers, tucking the ring away as Bubbles does the same. The Powerpuff Girls then charge in formation into the heart of the battle.

'I hope you're right', Steve tells her, with Angel right beside him. 'Light from the moon takes 1.3 seconds to get back to earth. And if you're going to become one girl, don't you think we should tell Angel first?'
Steve had seen this trick before, and it freaked him out the first time they did it! What would it do to Angel?
The moon was still red. 'We'll have to see', Blossom replied. 'And tell Angel.'
Angel, who up to now felt her invisibility was a good idea, voiced the question. 'What, Mummy?'
We're going to turn into one super powered girl if we need do', Blossom told her.
'Cool', Angel replied, as she turned invisible again.
A giant wolf appeared behind them. As they turned and got ready to fight it, the invisible Angel went forward. Not letting it bite her, because she'd seen a werewolf before in one of Dad's old movies that Buttercup had got her, she went straight for the eyes. Suddenly the werewolf leaped back in pain then bared it's teeth. By that time Angel had retreated so it snapped at nothing. It then felt a kick in the other eye, but again there was nothing there for it to attack.
'Good one, Angel', Buttercup muttered. 'Taught you well.'
And taught her well she had, along with her parents. She then gave the wolf a kick to the temple and it staggered and began to retreat.
'Out of the way. Angel', Bubbles yelled as the girls moved forward as one. Angel did so and then reappeared next to Steve, who looked a mixture of pride and relief. The girls gave it a power kick, all three of them together and the wolf collapsed. Steve put a bullet in it to be sure.
'Well, you have trained that girl well', Timo commented.
Above them, the moon was still red. 'Blossom, we may have a problem', was how Steve put it to her. Then Angel looked back towards their house.
'Look', she cried...

Hack has joined the battle on the edge of town, using his weapon to take on the waves of monsters. The ion cannon has a variable power output which allows for shots as soft as a paintball gun or as devastating as a Tomahawk missile. Of course, more powerful shots require a longer recharging time, so it's generally impractical to leave the weapon at full strength.
Hack descends upon a small mob of zombies. He sets the cannon to have roughly the impact of an assault rifle and opens fire.
Hack attacks Zombies

The ion cannon's blasts wipe out the undead mob effortlessly, leaving nothing but some smoke and ashes in its wake.
Zombies Condition: Destroyed
"Here comes some more!" Bubbles shouts, pointing at a crowd of giant monsters that are walking out of the ocean and stomping into Townsville, trampling any buildings and cars that get in the way.
The monsters stop unexpectedly as a pink cloud high in the air above them appears, forming into a giant projection of Him's face and arms.
"BLACKHEART IS NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN ABSORB POWER FROM THE SHADOW SOULS!" Him's dark voice booms over Townsville's skies. "ONCE I HAVE TAKEN ENOUGH DARK POWER, I WILL BE THE ONE TO CONTROL BOTH OF HER SOULS AND ALL HER POWER!"
Him attacks the Powerpuff Girls, Steve, Angel, Timo, and Hack
Attack: Dark Energy Barrage
Defense: Block
Moving his giant claws into a defensive position, Him opens his mouth and sprays the sky with black and purple balls of shadow energy! The monsters start to move again, heading for the city with destruction on all their minds.
"Even if we avoid those, Townsville will be obliterated by that blast!" Blossom deduces in her head. "Girls, looks like now is the time!"
Bubbles and Buttercup nod to Blossom, removing the Silver Star rings from before and putting them on. Bubbles wears the ring on her left hand, Buttercup on her right. The dark energy balls get closer and closer to the group, when a brilliant flash of white light fills the sky!
Blossubblecup attacks Him
Attack: Powerpuff Starburst
Defense: Deflect
As the light fades, a new Powerpuff Girl with glowing gold hair styled in a ponytail, wings, and pigtails wearing a white dress has appeared! She starts zipping around in a streak of white light, swatting aside all of the dark energy spheres threatening to destroy Townsville before aiming her arms up at Him's giant floating head in the pink clouds. "My turn!" She shouts up as she fires a sparkling tricolored energy wave at Him! The demon holds up one of his lobster claws and blocks the counterattack, then grins widely.
Blossubblecup Condition: Perfect!
"WAS THAT YOUR BEST SHOT?" Him asks mockingly.
"Not even close!" The Powerpuff Girl answers, speaking in all three voices at the same time! She turns to the boys and Angel and smiles. "I'll take care of Him. You guys keep fighting. The red light from the moon is already starting to fade. Once it's completely gone, any remaining monsters will go back to wherever they came from." She then turns around to look back up at Him. "As for you..."
Blossubblecup attacks Him
Attack: Tornado
Defense: Deflect
Blossubblecup flies up toward Him in a streak of white light and starts to spin, changing into a white whirlwind. Him raises his claw in an attempt to knock her away, but the white blur expands in size, becoming a hurricane of tricolored light that surrounds Him's giant projected head!
The giant monsters roar and stomp toward the other heroes.

Timo attacks Bug Eyed Tentacle Armed Monster
Attack: Ice Staff Throw
Defense: Ice Shield (normal)
Timo notices the monster's attack in time and creates two ice staves and quickly creates an ice shield in front of him, deflecting the monster's attack. The ice shield disappears as Timo throws one of his ice staves at the monster in high speed.
The ice staff hits one of the monster's tentacle arms and despite it trying to deflect the ice staff, the ice staff cut a bit of it off and caused the monster to roar in pain.
Bug Eyed Tentacle Armed Monster attacks Timo
Attack: Slap
Defense: None
"Is it over already?" Timo wondered without noticing that the monster's pain causes its other arm to swing hard at him from the other direction.
The tentacle arm hits Timo fully, causing him to drop at one of the buildings' walls and cause a huge crack on it.
Timo Condition: Broke A Sweat
"Apparentally it wasn't." Timo said as he flew back up. "This one needs to cool off."
Timo attacks Bug Eyed Tentacle Armed Monster
Attack: Ice Beam
Defense: None
With his remaining ice staff, Timo aims at the monster and shoots an ice beam in the middle of the monster's body, immediately causing the monster's body to freeze over. The ice spreads and eventually covers the whole monsters, stopping it in its tracks.
Bug Eyed Tentacle Armed Monster Condition: Disabled - Frozen
Timo shoots one more ice beam at the frozen monster, causing the ice to break into pieces, along with the monster.
Bug Eyed Tentacle Armed Monster Condition: Defeated
"Strange." Timo said. "That hit I took was surprisingly more powerful than I thought. Few more like that and I'd have been in real trouble. Was it because it was in pain or..." Timo looked up. "... was it because of the moon?"

Steve had his own problem all of a sudden. The giant ape was attacking him but he wanted it out of the way so he could help defend his daughter. He didn't want to turn into another Powerprof (Blossom had told him that story one night in a a restaurant in the china district one night and they were laughing so much they nearly got kicked out) but he was a little concerned for Angel.
Angel had turned invisible and the fire bolt from the winged imp suddenly had no target. She dodged out of its way and reappeared behind the imp blowing a rasberry. Then one strike brought it down but it started to rise again, but Angel had once again turned invisible again and was nowhere to be seen.
Meanwhile, Steve responded to the giant ape with a kick to somewhere private. Then he grabbed it and threw while it was in agony. While it was away from him, he looked at Angel who was playing an interesting game with the imp.
The ape came back to Steve but he was ready. He had to time this just right. If he did, the ape would be out for good and maybe the imp would be too.
'Hey Impface', he yelled. 'Got something for you'.
The angry imp turned on him as the ape appeared. He grabbed the ape's arm as it advanced and threw it again. Angel guessed what he was doing and got out of the way as the ape hit the imp. Both fell to the ground in a heap. The ape was badly injured in the fall and tried to rise, but was unable to do so. The imp was underneath the ape and was not moving.
'One each Daddy', Angel offered.
Steve nodded. 'I'll have the ape, you have the imp'. He reached out and grabbed the ape's neck, turning it's head completely round, like the girl in The Exorcist. As it fell, Angel used her eye bolts to reduce the imp to ash.
'Let's see how the others are coping', Steve commented. Timo looked to be clear but briefly he looked worried. Blosblecup was dealing with Him and Hack was.... well, Hack.

Hack quickly turns up the power on his cannon and blasts the incoming rock.
Hack attacks Mountain Golem
Attack: None
Defense: Parry (Grenade Shot)
The rock explodes into golf-ball-sized chunks that fly off in all directions, leaving Hack and the rest of the group unharmed.
Hack Condition: Perfect!
Hack hides behind the corner of a building for a few seconds while the cannon recharges. When his next shot is ready, he swings back around and takes aim at the golem.
Hack attacks Mountain Golem

The blast from the ion cannon explodes on impact with the golem, blasting off a hefty chunk of rock and causing it to stumble, but otherwise maintains its footing.
Rock Golem Condition: Battered
High up above the main battle, Blossubblecup continues fighting with Him, zipping around his giant projected head like an enraged hornet.
Blossubblecup attacks Him
Attack: Powerpuff Pummel Attack
Defense: Speedy Flight
Him attacks Blossubblecup
Attack: Giant Claw
Defense: Block
The white streak of light slams into the demon's head a few times every rotation as Him tries desperately to knock her out of the sky. "I WILL TAKE GREAT PLEASURE IN GETTING TO DESTROY ALL THREE OF YOU AT THE SAME TIME!" Him bellows in his evil voice, yet try as he might, he is completely unable to hit the Powerpuff Girl.
Blossubblecup Condition: Perfect!
Him Condition: Beat Up
Every minute the fight goes on, the red light from the moon starts to fade until finally disappearing entirely. The moon returns to its normal white color in the sky and the monsters stop attacking, turning around and walking out of Townsville.
Blossubblecup attacks Him
Attack: Starburst Sword
Defense: Block
"DO YOU THINK YOU'VE WON?" Him roars in anger as the red light fades. "BLACKHEART AND THE SHADOW SOULS WILL BE MINE! WHERE SHE IS GOING, NOT EVEN YOU CAN PROTECT HER FROM ME!"
"Oh? Where might that be?" Blossubblecup asks as a sparkling white blade of light with a tricolored hilt sprouts from her hand! Blossubblecup charges at Him to deliver the finishing blow, when he disappears in a cloud of pink smoke. The blade cuts harmlessly through the night sky, which has returned to normal. Blossubblecup lands and takes off the Silver Star pendant, causing a flash of light that splits her back into the Powerpuff Girls!
"Looks like the threat is over." Bubbles says with a smile.
"Yes, but what Him said worries me a little." Blossom replies. "What did he mean by 'where she is going'?"
"If I had to guess, since Blackheart is a Voidbringer, she has to travel to alternate realities in order to retrieve the other Shadow Souls." Buttercup remarks. "We can't protect her from Him there, because we can't really follow her there; not without leaving Townsville wide open for any bad guy to just swoop in and take over."
"So then what do we do?" Bubbles asks.
