There has been a lot of rumours flying round cyberspace about the PPG's returning in 2013. There has even been an advert floating round to make this seem true. Should you wish to see this advert, click below... 25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m9rbzelZTe1qzjjjdo1_500.jpgThis is nothing more than a myth and both Craig McCracken and Lauren Faust, who are both busy with the forthcoming 'Wander Over Yonder' have debunked this rumour on their deviant art pages. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but at the moment there are no plans to revive this show. Cheers, Blossomgb

I've heard nothing as well. But after the mainly negative response of the final two seasons, would Cartoon Network want to take a chance on reviving it? (Then again, they've greenlit yet another Ben 10 show.)

I pretty much expected this because of the Wander Over Yonder cartoon so I'm not disappointed.

Today there was an AMA with Genndy Tartakovsky on reddit, when asked the question about a PPG reboot, this was his response (he was probably joking, but it's a bit hard to tell): www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/10l1an/i_am_genndy_tartakovsky_the_director_of_hotel/c6ee0g3(The rest of the AMA is great to read either way) Is there a possibility that the series is being rebooted, as in a whole new cast/director/everything? If that was the case Craig and Lauren wouldn't be involved. That would just be wrong though...

He probably doesn't know either and said yes anyway. Or maybe misunderstood and thought he was being asked if he'd like that?
idk

If Cartoon Network (or CN, as seems to be known now) was planning to bring this back, then surely they would be shouting it from the rooftops!
The caption that goes with that picture I posted earlier proves it's a hoax. Do you really think that a Children's Cartoon Channel would say 'Oi Bitches'?
These rumours come up often!

And another rumour has reached me, this time from Reddit. Apparently Genndy Tartakowsky is planning a reboot of the Powerpuff Girls after having bought the franchise!
Genndy is now working for Sony and is busy with films right now, such as the current 'Hotel Transylvania', which so far has done rather better than Rotten Tomatoes thought it would. He also says that interest is waning on 2D animation now, and after seeing 'Brave' I can understand that!
He does say that Cartoon Network plan to reboot it, and fifteen years on is the time to do it as it is still popular with kids of all ages. He knows no more about it however.
Craig McCracken and Lauren Faust now work for Disney, but seeing as the franchise for PPG is held by Cartoon Network, Craig is not in charge of them or the franchise - he's a spectator too, not a lot more.
There may be rumours floating around but until CN say anything definite, they are only rumours and should be taken with a pinch of salt.
If anything concrete does appear, you will read of it here.
Cheers,
Blossomgb

So if Genndy Tartakowsky wants to do a reboot of the PpG and he's saying 2D is on the wane...then that means the reboot would be in 3D? I've seen 3D renditions of the PpG and most have not come across well. It would have to require a character redesign more suited for 3D than the highly graphic 2D style of the original.

Ppg in 3D would look strange.
Time will tell I guess.

It would be better to make the PpG-Z in 3D. I know some have done it with varying results.

The aborted PPG episode "Deja View" was originally supposed to be part CGI/3D, but it was scrapped due to budget issues. Cartoon Network is already blowing a CGI budget on Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and how prudent they'd be to budgeting a CGI version of PPG is up in the air.

This special may take place after all. A character named Mr. Fibonacci is to appear and he will be voiced by Ringo Starr.

I've looked at the press release which is here... www.examiner.com/article/ringo-starr-to-get-animated-with-new-powerpuff-girls-roleI hope it's true. But examiner.com isn't really a source for news - it's 'articles' come from it's many contributors and the news on them isn't what I'd call 'Good'. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Examiner.comLooking at Ringo Starr's own site, I cannot verify this rumour. Nice if it was true, and it could be as these rumours seem to be all round the net right now, When there is anything concrete then it will be posted here by ccook55 or myself. Stay tuned!! Cheers, Blossomgb
